We believe Scripture is clear about the core ideas of the Christian faith.

  • The God of the Bible is the Creator of the world, the Redeemer of His people, and the only One we should serve (Deuteronomy 6:4-6).

  • Jesus, as the Son of God, came into this world, suffered death on the cross for the sins of lost humanity, was buried, and on the third day was raised from the dead victorious over death (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

  • Now, in and through Jesus, all people can have their sins forgiven, be reconciled to God and enjoy the best possible life now and get to heaven when this life is over (Job 10:10; 14:6; Ephesians 1:3,7; Colossians 1:13-14).

  • The Holy Spirit, the Helper, is given to people when they obey the gospel and become Christians and is the guarantee that all of God’s promises for His adopted sons and daughters will come to pass (Acts 2:37-39; Ephesians 1:13-14).

  • The Bible is God’s inspired and infallible Word and provides people with the knowledge they need to become Christians and to live a faithful, Christ-centered life (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • Although salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-10), there are certain things that people must do to accept the salvation God offers through Jesus. We must have faith (John 3:16; Acts 16:31), repent of our sinful and selfish ways (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:3), confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior (Acts 8:37; Romans 10:10), be baptized into Jesus for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38; Acts 8:12; Matthew 28:18-19), and strive to live faithfully to God (Hebrews 2:1-3; Revelation 2:10).

  • The elders collectively of each congregation have authority over that congregation (Acts 20:28).  This means they rule in matters of judgment and expediency (Hebrews 13:17).  They are responsible for ensuring that the Word of God is being taught and that the flock is being fed (Titus 1:9; 1 Peter 5:2).  They are to be examples to the flock (1 Peter 5:3).

  • Worship should be done according to the pattern found in the New Testament.  On every first day of the week, we come together to worship God by singing, praying, giving an offering, partaking in communion, and studying His word.

  • Marriage is to be a one-flesh relationship (Genesis 2:24) between one woman and one man for their lifetimes.
